The Do’s of Closing Above Ground Pools

• Do bring a water sample to our store to be tested and to get chemical instructions for winterizing.
• Do adjust pH to 7.8 (on higher scale).
• Do chemically clean your filter with the appropriate filter cleaner.
• Do brush and vacuum your pool.
• Do fold up your solar blanket and store in a cool, dry place.
• Do add required algaecide and winter shock (or Softswim C).
• Do let the water circulate for at least 24 hrs. after adding winter chemicals before draining for winter levels.
• Do drain water level below returns for above ground pools.
• Do remove hoses from skimmers and returns.
• Do remove drain plugs from the filter.
• Do store pool pump indoors in a low humidity environment.
• Do maintain a minimum of 2” of water on the cover (if you have a solid cover) – Not enough water on the cover can cause a risk of cover damage in the case of strong winds.  Too much water on top of the cover can cause damage to the pool cover and/or pool top rails.  Damage caused by either of these problems is not covered by manufacturer’s warranties.
