The Do’s of Closing Above Ground Pools

Do adjust pH to 7.8 (on higher scale).
Do chemically clean your filter with the appropriate filter cleaner.
Do brush and vacuum your pool.
Do fold up your solar blanket and store in a cool, dry place.
Do add required algaecide and winter shock (or Softswim C).
Do let the water circulate for at least 24 hrs. after adding winter chemicals before draining for winter levels.
Do drain water level below returns for above ground pools.
Do remove hoses from skimmers and returns.
Do remove drain plugs from the filter.
Do store pool pump indoors in a low humidity environment.
Do maintain a minimum of 2” of water on the cover (if you have a solid cover) – Not enough water on the cover can cause a risk of cover damage in the case of strong winds.Too much water on top of the cover can cause damage to the pool cover and/or pool top rails.Damage caused by either of these problems is not covered by manufacturer’s warranties.
Or, if you have an in-ground pool, call D & J to professionally winterize it.
